Hello Fellow Classmates and welcome to my very first blog.
Social capital is in general a reference to social networks. In relation to online learning social capital can refer to a group of individuals networking together with the common goal of learning about the course objectives. This concept can easily be developed and further expanded on through the development of groups such as we are experiencing now in EDUC 262. Not only do groups help but discussion boards which act as a kind of blog on the class website can further develop the sense of social networking. In previous experiences projects were also assigned to each student only to be reviewed by fellow students. This allowed for each student to learn about improvements from a peer perspective instead of opinions from a person in a position superiority. The peer perspective allowed for the student to expand upon their own ideas and recommendations from their peer group and to present a better finalized product for the person in a position of superiority.
In an attempt to better the online experience the students should be encouraged to attend videtelcomfrencing through thier computers so they can put names and faces together and truly make a conncetion with each other and the instructor. Games also develop a sense of networking as students challenge each and develop a sense of espirit de corp and further develop a team building environment.
Thanks for taking the time to read my blog and I look forward to reading your responses.
